My name is Kathy LeRoy. I have two bachelor degrees: one in Environmental Biology from UCSB and one in computer science from Sonoma State. I taught high school mathematics in Sierra Leone, West Africa, while serving in the Peace Corps.
I have 3 children: a daughter and twin sons. I helped in my children's classrooms until the teachers no longer needed my help. I didn't want to stop working with students, so I went back to school and earned my teaching credential. I taught at Kawana for a year, then moved to Meadow View Elementary in 2008. I have taught kindergarten, first and second grades. My favorite grade to teach is first grade because the students make a huge leap in reading. They go from reading very little to reading with confidence.
I enjoy reading, gardening, walking, hiking and backpacking. Every Friday after school, fellow teachers and I go on a hike.
